Introduction
The Cattanach Charitable Trust is a Scottish Charitable Trust established in 1992 by Miss Phyllis Cattanach, with very general charitable purposes. It is registered in the Scottish Charity Register, maintained by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, with charity number SC020902.
Although the Trust Deed by which the Trust was established gives the Trustees extremely wide scope for charitable giving, in recent years the Trustees have focused their charitable giving through the adoption of a themed approach. This ensures that the Trust income is applied in meaningful amounts to charities operating within the Trustees' current theme, and avoids dissipating the Trust income through a large number of small donations across a wider field of charitable endeavour.
The Cattanach Charitable Trust believes that helping young children and improving their well-being can bring about a healthier and happier community. The Trust will therefore focus, for the five years from 2007, on organisations and projects which offer hope of a better life to children, especially those under 10 years of age, and their families and communities. By targeting its grants in this way, the Trust means to address the needs of young children living in difficult and deprived circumstances, and to help them make the most of their talents and opportunities.
